Section 1 – Definitions

a. Adapted Material – Material subject to copyright and similar rights that is derived from or based upon the licensed material and in which the licensed material is translated, altered, arranged, transformed, or otherwise modified in a manner requiring permission under the copyright and similar rights held by the licensor.

b. Copyright and Similar Rights – Copyright and/or similar rights closely related to copyright including, without limitation, performance, broadcast, sound recording, and sui generis database rights.

c. Effective Technological Measures – Measures that, in the absence of proper authority, may not be circumvented under laws fulfilling obligations under Article 11 of the WIPO Copyright Treaty or similar international agreements.

d. Exceptions and Limitations – Fair use, fair dealing, or any other exception or limitation to copyright and similar rights that applies to your use of the licensed material.

e. Licensed Material – The artistic or literary work, database, or other material to which the licensor applied this public license.

f. Licensed Rights – The rights granted to you subject to the terms of this public license, limited to all copyright and similar rights that apply to your use of the licensed material and that the licensor has authority to license.

g. Licensor – The individual(s) or entity(ies) granting rights under this public license.

h. NonCommercial – Not primarily intended for or directed toward commercial advantage or monetary compensation.

i. Share – To provide material to the public by any means or process that requires permission under the licensed rights, such as reproduction, public display, distribution, or communication.

j. Sui Generis Database Rights – Rights other than copyright resulting from Directive 96/9/EC on the legal protection of databases, as amended, or equivalent rights anywhere.

k. You – The individual or entity exercising the licensed rights under this public license.


Section 2 – Scope

a. License Grant
Subject to the terms of this public license, the licensor grants you a worldwide, royalty-free, non-sublicensable, non-exclusive, irrevocable license to exercise the licensed rights in the licensed material to:

  1. Reproduce and Share the material, in whole or in part, for noncommercial purposes only.

  2. Produce and reproduce adapted material for noncommercial purposes, provided that you distribute your contributions under the same license (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

b. Exceptions and Limitations
Where exceptions and limitations apply, this public license does not apply, and you need not comply with its terms.

c. Term
The term is specified in Section 6(a).

d. Media and Formats; Technical Modifications Allowed
The licensor authorizes use in all media and formats, whether known now or developed later, and waives any right to forbid necessary technical modifications.

e. Downstream Recipients
Every recipient automatically receives the offer to exercise the licensed rights under this public license. You may not impose additional restrictions or effective technological measures that restrict exercise of the licensed rights.

f. No Endorsement
Nothing in this public license constitutes or may be construed as permission to assert sponsorship, endorsement, or official status.


Section 3 – License Conditions

Your exercise of the licensed rights is expressly subject to the following conditions:

a. Attribution
If you share the licensed material, you must:

  • Retain any provided identification of creator(s), copyright notice, license notice, and disclaimer of warranties.

  • Indicate if you modified the licensed material and retain an indication of prior modifications.

  • Include a URI or hyperlink to this public license.

b. ShareAlike
If you create adapted material, you must distribute your contributions under the same CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license.


Section 4 – Sui Generis Database Rights

Where sui generis database rights apply:

  • You may extract, reuse, reproduce, and share all or substantial portions of the database for noncommercial purposes.

  • If you include substantial portions in a database you control, that database is considered adapted material under this license.

  • You must comply with Section 3(a) when sharing substantial portions.


Section 5 – Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability

a. Warranties: The licensor offers the licensed material “as-is” with no warranties.
b. Liability: To the extent possible, the licensor will not be liable for any losses arising out of this public license or use of the licensed material.


Section 6 – Term and Termination

a. This public license applies for the term of the licensed rights. Noncompliance terminates rights.
b. Rights automatically reinstate if violations are cured within 30 days or upon express reinstatement by the licensor.
c. The licensor may offer the material under separate terms without terminating this license.
d. Sections 1, 5, 6, 7, and 8 survive termination.


Section 7 – Other Terms and Conditions

a. You may not impose additional terms on the licensed material.
b. Any separate agreements regarding the material are independent of this public license.


Section 8 – Interpretation

a. This public license does not reduce any lawful uses under applicable exceptions and limitations.
b. Unenforceable provisions shall be reformed or severed without affecting the remainder.
c. No term or consent to violation is waived unless expressly agreed.
d. Nothing limits privileges or immunities that apply to the licensor or you.
